Margaret moments

In the last couple of days, I’ve noted a couple of Margaret quips that I thought I’d pass on.

The first was yesterday. She was playing ‘Redwall’ or some imaginative game dressed with a couple of swords and I noticed that she was speaking in a decent British accent and used the word “opportunity,” which, when you factor in the accent, was very, very cute and I thought, kind of neat for a barely-3-year-old.

Then today, out of nowhere, she bounded down the stairs into the living room, where several of us were gathered and simply said to us, “And don’t complain about it!”

Finally, she and Annie had gotten into Peter’s pack-n-play (playpen) this evening and were evidently playing some game that combined being pirates with being babies in a playpen. (That’s the schizophrenia that comes with being two little girls with three older brothers.) My favorite moment was when I overheard Margaret instruct Annie: “Take your pacifier out and have some rum!” I’m guessing that’s probably the first time that sentence has ever been uttered.

She keeps us laughing! Oh, plus she’s going to rule the world one day.

  • These stories are so hilarious! I have to admit I almost fell off my chair laughing at Margaret’s pacifier line; which is reminiscent of the line from “Oliver!” where one of the young toughs says, “Hey, Fagan, these sausages are moldy.” To which Fagan replies, “Shut up and drink your gin!” Dear Margaret’s one of a kind!
